Michigan Schools has launched its new school requirements - Michigan Merit Curriculum - in December 2005. The Michigan schools are determined to better students for work and college success will be prepared by ensuring that all pupils have the knowledge and skills needed to succeed.
Previous requirements for graduation in the Michigan schools reflected an economy and society that no longer exist, not even, they represent the real world demands of work and school.Michigan Schools and skill, of course, issues that once students after graduation are now optional essential in order to enter school or the workplace. The new Michigan Merit Curriculum requires Michigan school graduates are successfully completed both theMichigan Merit Core and the 21st Century Learning Core. The new Michigan Merit Core consists of the following courses:
• English Language Arts, Integrated Humanities sequence or CTE sequence - 4 credits
• Mathematics - 4 credits with one credit in each of Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and an additional math or math credit in the senior class, integrated math sequence or CTE sequence
• Science - 3 credits with aCredit each in biology, physics or chemistry, and an additional credit of science, mathematics, integrated sequence or CTE sequence
• Social Sciences - 3 credits
• Political and Agricultural Economics - 5 credits
• U.S. history and world history - 1 credit each, integrated with geography, integrated Humanities sequence or CTE sequence
• World Languages - 2 credits
• Health and Physical Education - 2 credits
• Visual and Performing Arts - 1Credit
In addition to the students in their junior year to take Michigan Michigan schools Merit Exam or the alternate MI-ACCESS assessment test. Those who do not have existed in their junior year will occur a further opportunity to be tested in the spring of their senior year .
